James E. Yaney Sr., 83, North Manchester, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away at 6:30 a.m. May 3, 2015, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 8, 1931, in Fort Wayne to Sylvester and Eva (Lyons) Yaney. He served with the Army Med Corps in Korea from 1953 to 1961. He retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools in 1992 after 26 years of service. James was the producer of “Tell America” in Fort Wayne and served on the National Board of Korean War Veterans Association. He attended Akron United Methodist Church.
James is survived by his companion: Dorothy Medley, North Manchester; sons: James (Teresa) Yaney Jr., Indianapolis, Lon (Angel) Yaney, Pierceton, Lynn (Melanie Chistensen) Yaney Kiln, Mass.; daughter: Bernadette (Jon) Yaney-Clark, North Manchester; grandchildren: Jared Michael Chistiansen, Kiln, Mass., Tiffany Clark, North Manchester, Brittani Kinner, Lancaster, Ohio, Malicia Kinghorn, Lancaster, Ohio; great-grandchildren: Kenzi Zimmerman, Edgar, Wis., and Marissa Yaney, Wausau, Wis.
He is preceded by his parents; three brothers: Joseph Wesley Yaney, Richard Yaney and Robert Yaney; a son: Leslie Yaney; and a grandson: James G. Yaney.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 8 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 SR 114, North Manchester. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9 at McKee Mortuary, Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
